I joked last night with Karoli and Aliza that I wanted to break out some bubbly during our get-together today. And then, I thought: why not? Because yesterday’s off-year election results were truly stunning, with Democrats winning races up and down the ballot, all over the country, and flipping red seats blue.
Not to mention the overwhelming success of Prop 50, which will permit California to answer red state gerrymandering with some redistricting of our own.
Karoli noted that one of the best things about these results is that it reminded her what hope feels like. And believe me: we are all feeling a lot more hopeful than we have since November 2024.
