I prep for our podcasts each week by taking daily notes of what’s going on in the world. On each Wednesday morning, I cut and paste my disorganized list of outrages into categories - and usually, a theme emerges out of the chaos by the time we record.
But as Trump 2.0 rages on, the chaos just seems to beget more chaos. Everything is awful, everything is dangerous, and very little of it gets the attention it deserves. The regime has still not followed court orders and “facilitated” the return of the hundreds of migrants who were illegally dispatched to prisons in other countries. Instead, we get news that they are readying more flights to nations with even worse conditions.
Mike Waltz has lost his job as national security adviser - not because he used Signal to communicate top-secret information, but because we all found out about it when he accidentally invited a journalist to the conversation. This week, we learned that Waltz was actually using an insecure Signal clone, that other departments are also communicating via insecure apps, and that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s old passwords are all over the Internet.
All I can say is: I’m grateful that I get to visit with Karoli and Aliza each week, who not only talk me down, but remind me of the progress we are making on many fronts. And by the end of our hour together, we are laughing - which is probably the best possible response to a crazy wannabe dictator who yearns to be feared.
One Last Thing
The three of us loved these photos of Kamala Harris all decked out for the Met Gala this week. We are happy to see that she’s easing herself back into the public eye.
